Last year was a health disaster for me starting in November 2023 until January this year.

My sisters house burned in the Los Angeles fires, losing virtually everything.

I have lost the desire and energy to write..Far from OK, and now my wife of 50 years is in the hospital with serious issues.. Sucks to be me..

I'm doing ok. I think as a whole, the comic book industry (especially the indie side) is welcoming. Yes, there are bad apples and I know the saying is that those spoil the whole bunch, but this is course corrected as those folks are cut out. There will always be those that revel in the drama of it all, but it's usually easy to weed those folks out. I'm still making comics and enjoying doing it.

How about you?

Well said. One of my peers in comics always complains about the negative side of the community. And, it's true. It's there. And I think you raise a good point that we need to find better ways to prioritize the battles. But, it's also true that the community is filled with people who support each other, boost each other's projects, give technical/creative assistance, and have a sense of a shared mission where we're all rooting for each other's success. The contradictory nature of the community is something I wrestle with. Both narratives have truth in them. I just try to lean into the positive side whenever possible.

Could be better, BUT it could also be worse.

Got some pre KS anxiety, but I know we'll make goal. I just hope reaching goal will be fast ^^;

I won't lie though, I've seen some dark aspects to this community as well (the abovementioned grudges/betrayals along with some very high school behavior), but I think the good outweighs the bad.
