So, X-Men wasn’t my introduction to comic books. That was either Spider-Man or the little comics you got with the He-Man action figures. However, it was the X-MEN cartoon that made me a super fan. I remember going over to my friend’s house and watching it over and over. I became all things X-MEN. I feel in love with MAGNETO my favorite character of all times. I have named one of my children REMY. I love the X-Men comics and what they stand for. I quoted GAMBIT to every girl i have ever been in love with. I loved the duality of Magneto in that he is always doing what is right from his point of view. This brought me into the world of a comic book store.
I would often go to comic book stores with my friend OJ. (not the murderer just a white dude from NH who loves LOBO and BONE) Him and i would go to every comic store in NH to find back issues. We went all in on IMAGE. He liked DC and I was a MARVEL ZOMBIE. I was Spawn, He was Savage Dragon. I was Wolverine, He was Lobo. Its what makes comic books. I would go to the store and consume comic after comic. I will never stop reading the comics. I will keep reading them until the day i die. I have spoken before about how comics taught me my moral compass.
I am currently re-watching X-MEN with my daughter. She is loving it and i am loving that she loves it. Comics are powerful and inspiring. I hate talking to a creator who hasn’t read a comic in years or doesnt know who or what is working on the current market. I take comics very seriously and i sometimes believe that i take it too seriously.
This series brought so many fans into these shops and helped create a love for these characters that has never been repeated. As, we are getting ride of the Karkoa Age of X-Men and returning to the old school. I cant help but smile. I have almost every issue of X-Men and Uncanny X-men since i was 14. I may be missing a couple do to some damages over time but no KEY ISSUES ohhhh and once they did a VAMPIRE THING with the X-MEN moving to SAN FRANCISCO…. it was weird and i dropped it because WTF. I picked it up after but that’s was weird.
ANYWAYS
So, its odd in this new KICKSTARTER world that we are trying to balance a KICKSTARTER audience and a COMIC STORE audience So, I am always trying to do both.
For instance!!
Is in stores today!! If you haven’t picked it up or you want the first two issue collected go ahead and buy this.
I am also running this
COINS OF JUDAS - HARDCOVER AND SOFTCOVER collected at the same time this will included the above book and COINS OF JUDAS: The Gambler 1&2
10 days left please back if you haven’t!!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bandofbards/coins-of-judas-the-gambler-from-band-of-bards
PLUS, to make it even more difficult. I need this ordered
So, its hard to send my audience to one place because well both are super important. I want a great successful KICKSTARTER with special HARDCOVER books but I also want you to talk about me in your comic stores.
So, whats the point of all this? Well the point is we need support to keep doing what we are doing. We love this book and would love your support. So, much like the X-MEN gather up and show some love in any of the above ways.
As Stan would say “You keep reading them, ill keep writing them.” X-MEN PIZZA HUT VHS - 1996?
