The death of super heroes

So, one of my core blocks of making Travis Gibb. The comic writer that stand before you in TERMINATOR and T2: JUDGEMENT DAY. Those two movies i have watched over 100 times each and have even edited them together in films school for cool flashback scenes. I have been thinking about those movies a lot lately with DIAMOND COMICS almost gone. every comic book movie release we hear the talk that there is superhero fatigue and the constant reminder from my peers that SUPERHEROS dont perform well on Kickstarter.

So, why make a superhero book in this climate? I have been doing fine in the supernatural/horror genre why make a super hero comic?? Well its because of the Terminator. More so the classic Terminator line, “No fate but what we make for ourselves,” resonates now more than ever, especially in the comic book industry. Let’s be real: superheroes are more popular than ever in movies and TV, but the comic industry itself is struggling. Sales are down, publishers are closing, and it sometimes feels like the stories we love are being left behind.

So, one of my goals this year was to put my mark on the superhero genre! Just like Sarah and John Conner i don’t have to accept that fate that superheroes are dying and not wanted. I believe that we can change it. Independent creators, passionate readers, and fresh storytelling can push this industry forward. Even if we use the same old superhero story to do it. We’re not here to watch comics fade—we’re here to make sure they evolve, thrive, and stay relevant in a world that still needs them.

Thats why I’m pumped to talk about my latest project, Upheaval! This book is something I’ve been itching to bring to life—packed with high-stakes action, deep emotions, and a fresh spin on what it really means to be a hero today. Using modern technology and ideals in a superhero world. If you’ve checked out Granite State Punk, Coins of Judas, or Voodoo Nations, you know I love stories that challenge the norm and push characters to their limits. Upheaval does exactly that.

What’s Upheaval About?

At its heart, Upheaval is all about survival, resilience, and figuring out what it means to be a hero when the world is falling apart. Its about a girl trying to find out who she is in a wild tech-based world. The story follows a group of characters caught in a world-changing event, forcing them to make impossible choices while wrestling with their own ideas of justice, sacrifice, and redemption. Strong superhero vibes.

But don’t expect your usual superhero fare. This story is raw, intense, and unfiltered. It dives deep into trauma, legacy, and the real cost of power. Whether you’re a longtime fan of my work or just discovering my stories, Upheaval is built to keep you hooked with unexpected twists and moments that hit hard.

Why Upheaval?

This book has been in my head for a while now. I wanted to create something that really speaks to the times we live in—where “upheaval” isn’t just a story theme, it’s reality for so many. The characters aren’t just dealing with big external threats; they’re battling their own doubts, past decisions, and personal struggles. Yes, it’s a superhero story, but more than that, it’s about how we change when the world forces us to—and whether we rise or fall in the process.
