The origin stories of the creation of Holiday Spirits

Jerome, the third arm of the ORANGE CONE PRODUCTIONS team, is a strong idea guy—and it’s a big part of why our books look so damn good. He’s not just full of ideas; between the two of us, we’ve solved more than a few creative challenges over the years—whether it was being a page short or, back in the day, when I didn’t know how to handle double-page spreads properly. The man’s a fountain of creativity. He is often pitching me new ideas for pledge levels or stretch goal rewards. We don’t always use them, but he constantly has them

That said… not every idea is gold. I mean, he once pitched me a hockey comic and another about the Bee Gees—so yeah, not all winners.

But then one day, after seeing the success of Cthulhu Invades Oz and The Advocator, Jerome pitched Holiday Spirits—a collection of short stories set around Christmas. I loved the concept, but I wanted it to feel more connected. So I brought in the Krampus Killer and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

With that brilliant idea we created this

This book was super fun. It has a strong fan base and has allowed us to do 3 volumes of it so far. I have sold out of Volumes 1 and 2 twice. It has been a great hit for orange cone. We even had a publishing deal for VOLUME 1 with BAND OF BARD that was pretty solid. So, we have found success with this property. However, Jerome isn’t happy with MILD SUCCESS.

However, Jerome is no ordinary creator. He loves his series and has even created 3 floopies for the book!! We have 3 floppies for HOLIDAY SPIRITS for CHRISTMAS in july teaming with 3 more creators per book.

However, like a sham wow!! BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!!

Phil Burton is a amazing creator who does ANTHOLOGIES almost exclusively. He teamed up with Dan Buksa to great 4 stories about Agent Peppermint Fudgesparkle this for me is a big deal because Phil has no worked on a single character for long enough to have a single floopies worth of content.

Also, in HOLIDAY SPIRITS - CHRISTMAS IN JULY also has a ongoing “VACTION” stories that have been written by Kurt Belcher, Matt Knowles, Steph Cannon, Brian Cochran with ART BY Jose E. Cardenas

This series has truly become one of my favorites, and it means the world to us.
